United Way Blackhawk Region is seeking one-day work project ideas from local nonprofit organizations for volunteers to complete during United Way’s annual Day of Caring on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
“Day of Caring is a great way of giving back to the community. It really highlights the value of volunteerism within the community,” said Day of Caring volunteer project coordinator Beth Gliebe.
During last year’s Day of Caring in September, over 400 volunteers from 23 companies and organizations participated in more than 50 community projects for 25 local nonprofit agencies.
Gliebe said nonprofit organizations wishing to submit projects can download a form from the homepage of the United Way Blackhawk Region website at www.LiveUnitedBR.org.
Projects will be accepted from nonprofits from the entire Blackhawk Region, which includes all of Rock County, Wis. and northern Winnebago County, Ill.
The deadline for organizations to submit projects is Friday, Aug. 1.
“Organizations submitting work projects should provide a specific description of the project, the number of volunteers needed and any special skills or tools required,” Gliebe said. “Our volunteers are ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work during this communitywide effort.”
Day of Caring workers can also sign up online for half- or full-day projects on Sept. 17. The Day of Caring event begins with a continental breakfast at 7 a.m. at the Regal corporate hangar at the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport between Beloit and Janesville.
