Feline Friend

36 volunteers, minimum age 16/w parent
Provide love, attention, grooming, and exercise to adoptable cats waiting for their forever home. Basic knowledge of cat behavior and animal handling preferred. Ability to commit to a weekly schedule required.

Foster Parent
Rock County Humane Society
As needed, monthly events required
15 volunteers, minimum age 18
Care for animals in your home. Potential foster animals include nursing moms with litters, litters that are too young for adoption, animals in need of socialization, and animals recovering from illness or injury. Ability to attend adoption events with foster animals strongly preferred.

Mobile Adoption Handler Rock County Humane Society
As needed, monthly events required
15 volunteers, minimum age 18
Provide care to adoptable animals away from the shelter at mobile adoption events. This position requires expert animal handling skills as well as a desire to promote shelter programs and animals to the public. Animal handlers work with cats or dogs.

Class Volunteers
S.M.I.L.E.S. (Special Methods in Learning Equine Skills)
Call for information on summer and fall classes
15 volunteers, minimum age 13
Volunteers needed as horse handlers or student helpers, for one hour length class. There are a variety of day or evening class times available to volunteer. No experience is required, training is provided.

Experienced Bather/Groomer
Rock County Humane Society
As needed, flexible schedule
10 volunteers, minimum age 18
Help animals stay healthy and adoptable by keeping them well bathed and groomed. Previous professional grooming experience required. These volunteers are scheduled on an as-needed basis.

Canine Companion
Rock County Humane Society
On-going, Monday—Sunday
100 volunteers, minimum age 16/w parent
Train and socialize adoptable dogs while providing companionship and exercise. Some dog behavior knowledge and animal handling skills preferred. Must ne able to utilize positive reinforcement methods only while working with the dogs. Weekly schedule is required.
